Join the Rendezvous Cruise to La Perouse

Rendezvous Cruise to La Perouse and Jibbon Beach

OCTOBER LONG WEEKEND AND FOLLOWING 4 BUSINESS DAYS and WEEKEND (5TH to 13TH OCTOBER 2024)

Sydney – La Perouse   29 nm  4.5 hours

For those who will not have the time to join the Clarence River Cruise, a rendezvous cruise has been arranged to La Perouse and Jibbon Beach which will span the above dates. The location of these destinations is shown in the photos and links below. It is a ‘goldilocks’ distance for a good sail there and back in less than one day.

The idea of ‘pinching’ and extra 4 days midweek is to allow more time to enjoy the attractions of the area and also to allow flexibility in choosing the best weather window for our return to Pittwater. La Perouse is ideal for shelter from the North and Jibbon Beach is sheltered from the South. Whilst each are totally separate destinations in their own right, they are only a short 30-40 minutes from each other. If any participants cannot stay the full week, they can also come for whatever length of time they choose.

I should also make the point that both La Perouse and Jibbon Beach are accessible by car for any family members who may want to join you.

Everyone wishing to participate are encouraged to reach out to our Rear Commodore Cruising, Greg Dunstan (rc.cruising@rpayc.com.au). Greg will add you to the communication group and share a more detailed itinerary. The information below will provide you with some idea of what will be on that itinerary. As always, the cruise will be adaptable based on the weather.

Second Leg – Jibbon Beach

Jibbon Beach at Bundeena is about 45 minutes to the south. There are a few moorings but mostly anchoring.

The Royal Motor Yacht Club Port Hacking is easily accessible by tender from Jibbon Beach or Ferry from Bundeena point. See Ferry route below. From Jibbon Beach there are numerous walks through the national park.

Although we are unlikely to get there by Sunday unless the weather dictates otherwise, a really unique attraction is the Bundeena Art Trail which is on the first Sunday of each month and will be open on our weekend on 6th October, 10am – 4pm. It gives you the opportunity to peek inside some of Sydney’s finest artist studios, nestled on the edge of the Royal National Park. You can walk to open artist’s studios in the village of Bundeena and Maianbar. Artworks on show and for sale include paintings, drawings, printmaking woodcarving, decorative and functional pottery, glassware and jewellery. A map listing studios open on the day can be obtained from many of the local shops in the Bundeena township and the trail is clearly marked with signage along the way.

Please reach out to Greg Dunstan, Rear Commodore Cruising if you would like to get involved or learn more about the Rendezvous in La Perouse or any of the fun activities The Alfred’s Cruising Division have planned for the 2024-25 season – rc.commodore@rpayc.com.au or visit the Cruising page HERE
