Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) is pleased to welcome competitors, officials and Optimist families to the 2023 MUSTO Australian Optimist Championship. The Club welcomes you to our backyard and beautiful Pittwater.

The Regatta Site will be open for boat drop-off and access to the rigging and launching area from Friday 6th January 2023. Please do not leave vessels and equipment on-site at RPAYC. Download the Competitors Guide for further information.
Rowland Reserve (Bayview) can be used as an alternate launching location for training prior to the 6th January.

Support Boats
Support Boat Registration
All race management, coach, spectator and support vessels are required to register with the OA via the Support Boat Registration form.
Vessel Berthing
Please complete the Casual Vessel Berthing Request form to request a berth for your vessel for the 2023 Australian Optimist Championship.
This time of year is a peak period for casual berthing requests. Berths will be allocated first to vessels that are active race management support vessels, and then to spectators on a first-come, first-served basis. Race Management vessels nominated by the Organising Authority, and registered coach vessels, will be assigned a berth location for the duration of the event (8th-16th Jan). Berthing for these vessels will be free of charge.
Please note: unauthorised vessels in the marina will be towed away.
Boat trailers may be stored in the off-site Trailer Storage area (see information below).

Launching Facilities
No vessel launching facilities are available onsite at RPAYC, including the handstand cranes. Rowland Reserve (Bayview) is the nearest boat ramp facility to RPAYC. Daily parking rates apply.
Parking & Rigging Areas
Rigging Area
The rigging Area is located in the lower level carpark at RPAYC, directly between the launch ramp area and the clubhouse (open from 6 January). Fleets will be grouped together in zones. The lawn area is where Opti trolley’s will be stored once boats have launched.
Visitor Parking
Visitor parking is available in the Crystal Bay Car Park. Access the carpark via Crystal Street, Newport.
There is a walkway through the Crystal Bay hardstand area to access the rigging area.
Trailer Parking
Trailer Storage is available from Friday 6th January 2023 at Newport Public School.
The entrance to the designated trailer storage area is via Stuart Street, Newport.

Lunch orders need to be submitted 48hrs in advance of the day the lunch pack is being ordered for.
Halyard’s Bistro will be open from 8am-6pm each day of the Regatta. Extended hours on Thursday evening and Friday.

Each boat in the Open and Intermediate Fleets shall produce a Sail Measurement Certificate and IODA Measurement Book with the relevant sailor’s details duly entered in the AIODA Boat Register.
Green Fleet boats shall comply with Attachment 1 of this NOR.
Competitors are allowed to use only one hull, dagger board, rudder (with tiller and extension), mast, boom, sprit and sail during the Championship. These parts of the equipment may be required to be stickered prior to racing with the stickers supplied by the organisers for that purpose.
Substitution of damaged or lost equipment will not be allowed unless approved in writing by the Technical Committee. Requests for substitution shall be made to the Technical Committee at the first reasonable opportunity.
Prior to approving a request for substitution of equipment – the Technical Committee may scrutinise both the damaged equipment and the replacement equipment.
If the substitution was made on the water between races, both the damaged and the substituting pieces of equipment shall be presented to the Technical Committee prior to the expiry of protest time at the end of the day’s racing. In this case, the substitution is
subject to the approval of the Technical Committee given retrospectively.
Charter boats may carry national letters or sail numbers in contravention of the Class rules as allowed by RRS G3.
The Technical Committee may spot check any boat throughout the regatta and may measure any equipment on or off the water at their discretion. A boat found to not comply with Class rules at the end of any day of racing will be deemed to have not complied for all races completed that day
