After a hotly contested summer series of 6 events around NSW, RPAYC member Matt Stevens won the super heavies and Scotty O’Connor won the medium weights overall.
The next event on the calendar was the Port Stephen’s Regatta which was the NSW Marathon and Slalom Titles. Scotty won the marathon and finished 2nd on count back in the slalom titles. Slalom Results HERE.
Moving onto the Peter Loft Regatta with Scotty winning the windsurf division and division 2 whilst Martin Cross finished in 4th place.
Moving up far north to Bowen for the Mid Winter National’s over the Queens Birthday Long Weekend, the “blowing Bowen”didn’t live up to expectations with light winds over the 3 days for the 48 competitors. – View Bowen Regatta Video – HERE.
Martin Cross and Scotty again represented RPAYC and outsmarted themselves by getting into the light weight division believing that it would be windy and crush the lights. Unfortunately it was very light and they both had to work hard to try and match the kids. Martin ended up 5th and Scotty 3rd.
There has been good numbers again this season for the RPAYC Winter Series with hotly contested and close racing for all.
Next on the agenda is the Aussie Masters Games which is scheduled for October in Perth.
