August Estuary Cruise update

Written by Greg Dunstan, Rear Commodore Cruising.

Following a very enjoyable First Friday dinner on 2 August, at which the club served a very high-quality Greek style slow cooked lamb meal with a dessert of baklava or an exotic meringue dish, 11 boats headed off on Saturday morning to Hallett’s Beach on the Cowan.

18 members joined together for to lunch on Heavens Gate to acknowledge David and Sonia’s years of service during David’s tenure as rear commodore of cruising.

We were joined later by George and Gale from Southern Belle, who now live in Coffs Harbour and there were also apologies from many who had wanted to come but for various health reasons and other obligations were not able to make it. We were very fortunate on Saturday to have some of the best weather for many weeks with many basking in what has become a rare commodity, sunlight. Sunday was a bit cloudier but at 10 am everyone gathered together for a sausage sizzle and coffee, again on Heavens Gate at which time we were also joined by club members Geoff and Cathy Cook, from Liquidity, who just happened to be in the bay.

There was lots of good conversation and at least 2 novel ideas for future cruises locally.
