The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club hosted the 2026 Pittwater Secondary Schools Teams Racing Regatta, with the prestigious Pittwater Cup awarded at the conclusion of an outstanding day of competition. Eleven teams representing seven schools from across Sydney competed on Saturday, 28 February, split into two divisions. A consistent south-easterly breeze provided ideal racing conditions, keeping racing tight and tactical throughout the round robins.
Division 1
Early momentum in Division 1 came from Knox Grammar School 1, St Ignatius’ Blue and Cranbrook School, with all three teams securing important early wins. Following the completion of the round robin series, Knox Grammar School 1 topped the rankings, closely followed by St Ignatius’ Blue. Both teams progressed through to the Division 1 Final.
In the 5th/6th sail-off, Knox 2 defeated Cranbrook 2 to secure 5th place. The contest for 3rd and 4th saw Cranbrook 3 overcome Cranbrook 4 in a closely fought intra-school battle. In the Division 1 Final, St Ignatius’ Blue made a strong start and maintained control to secure the top two finishing positions, enough to claim victory and lift the Pittwater Cup.
Division 2
In Division 2, Redlands School, Pymble Ladies’ College and St Ignatius’ White featured strongly in the early flights. After the round robins, Redlands entered the semi-finals as the top-ranked team and faced Wenona. In the second semi-final, PLC met St Ignatius’ White.
Redlands delivered a commanding semi-final performance, taking the top three places to advance to the final. St Ignatius’ White secured their place in the final by claiming the first two positions in their semi-final. In the Division 2 Final, Redlands proved dominant, finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd to remain undefeated throughout the day and secure the Abbotsleigh Umpires Trophy.
