After a light finish to Friday’s Australian Sprint Championships at Royal Geelong Yacht Club, the first day of the Victorian WASZP State Championships was quite the opposite. 20kts from the SSE made for epic racing, some wild rides, and plenty of smiles!

The Victorian WASZP State Championship, hosted by Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Delivers Exciting Flat-Water Foiling Racing over the weekend of 13-14 December 2025, capping off a major WASZP sailing event that followed the Australian Foiling Sprint Championships earlier in the week. The regatta attracted a competitive fleet of WASZP class sailors from across Victoria and beyond, taking advantage of the premier flat-water foiling conditions in Corio Bay.

Organised in conjunction with the WASZP Sailing Association of Australia (WSAA), the event featured multiple races scheduled across both days, with windward–leeward courses set to challenge skill and strategy on foils. A minimum of three completed races constituted a valid series for championship scoring.

The final standings saw a strong performance from Louis Tilly (RPAYC) aboard Boogie Wonderland, who secured top place in the overall results for the Victorian championship fleet. Tilly’s consistent finishes across the races placed him at the summit of the leaderboard with a net score that outpaced his rivals.

Trailing closely in the standings was Tom Trotman (SSCBC) in second, followed by Conall Green (RGYC) in third overall. The event also showcased depth across age and experience categories:

  • Louis Tilly (RPAYC) – 1st
  • Tom Trotman (SSCBC) – 2nd
  • Conall Green (RGYC) – 3rd

Additional competitors included sailors from Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club, Royal Brighton Yacht Club and other clubs across the region.

Racing was competitive from start to finish, with multiple lead changes throughout the day’s heats and a strong turnout across junior, master and open divisions. The result reflected both strategic acumen in variable conditions and high-performance foiling capability on Victorian waters.

  • Ollie Ross – 4th
  • Jervis Tilly – 7th
