18 boats joined the fleet on water for Round 2 of the ZHIK Centreboard Non-Pointscore this Sunday 24 September. ILCAs, Optis, Vipers, a Manly Junior, SKUD18s and a bunch of WASZPs all set out to little pond for racing in the 6knt very shifty Easterly.
3 races away including 2 starts for the WASZPs in the light conditions. Our Junior Centreboard Race Fleet performed well, with a special mention to Lara Dorling winning her first Centreboard club race. Go Lara!
It was also a family affair with 3 generations of the Spithill family joining in racing, including Uncle Tommy in an Opti sailing alongside Chloe, Mum Katie in an MJ with Henry and Grandpa Arthur in a SKUD, all supported by Grant (Dad).
I am the volunteer co-ordinator and have been liaising with the Sailing Office regarding improvements we could implement to make volunteering easier and more accessible for all. A day out on the water as part of our Centreboard Race Management Team is a great way to contribute to our Centreboard community, not to mention, enjoy the afternoon on water with friends new and old. So if you would like to join our team please reach out to me and I can talk you through the ins and outs of volunteering with Centreboard.
There are also some great resources available to us including elearning modules from Australian Sailing for brushing up on Race Management and Mark Laying skills and techniques – view the free online modules HERE
PLEASE NOTE ALL COMPETITORS: The first Race in the Spring Series will be held 8 October and all series entries need to be completed by 1200hrs on 7 October. You can complete your series entry via this link.
