This Sunday 17 September saw a return to Centreboard Sailing at RPAYC with the first races in the ZHIK Centreboard Spring Series. Over 24 boats across ILCAs, Optis, Manly Junior, SKUD18s, Flying 11,Vipers on the water. Great to see everyone at the Centreboard lawn for rigging and welcoming our new Families. As a non-point score day the team could focus on training new volunteers from our Laser fleet to help out on the start boat and safety boat team.
RPAYC Manly Juniors are officially back! This amazing milestone in the clubs history was driven by the dedication and support of out Junior Fleet instructor Niall Powers.
Our goal this year is to have 4 MJ’s racing as we build the fleet and provide more options for our RPAYC community.
With the support of Jan Sholton on the start boat the Race volunteers managed to get proceeding underway in a Fading westerly. In classic Pittwater fashion the sea breeze kicked in and we repointed our fleet to the East into a light 5 knot breeze with 3 races away for the ILCAs and 2 races away for the rest of the fleet.
We welcomed our first from the Junior Centreboard Racing Fleet made up of Opti, Manly Junior and Flying 11, which is an exciting new development and coaching program available to our Junior Sailors at RPAYC. Please reach out to Niall Powers to find out more about the Junior Centreboard sailor development pathway.
We look forward to next Sunday for more racing fun.
