Volunteers Cocktail Night 2026

This week, the Club had its annual Cocktail Night to celebrate our amazing members. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the RPAYC Volunteer of the Year Award to Frank Walker by Commodore Robert McClelland and Vice Commodore Julia Hornsby. The award recognises Frank’s outstanding contribution to the Club and the countless hours he has dedicated to supporting RPAYC and its members.

In accepting the award, Frank spoke about the importance of man overboard drills and the critical role they play in improving safety and preparedness on the water. He also reflected on his experiences as a volunteer, sharing the camaraderie, sense of purpose and satisfaction that comes from giving back to the Club community.

Volunteers remain the backbone of RPAYC, with more than 200 members now contributing across the Board, Committees, Race Management Teams, Protest Committees, Heritage, Audit & Risk, Maintenance & Development, Centreboard, Cruising, Sailing and Club events. 

Volunteers’ contributions continue to make RPAYC the thriving club it is today, and the club was delighted to celebrate all they do.
