For 2023 we welcome Selden for Sailing as the naming rights sponsor of the Lion Island Series. 

The Lion Island Series runs each Saturday during May and is a fabulous event for all sailors and crews. From cruising, racing and two-handed yachts this event brings together all Pittwater fleets and visitors alike. Set your spinnakers today.

Open to all Racing & Cruising yachts, Sports boats and One Design Classes that meet the eligibility and entry requirements.

1.   Rules

The Rules are defined in the RPAYC 2022-2023 Sailing Handbook:

The Selden for Sailing Lion Island Series is conducted under the Australian Sailing Special Regulations Category 7.

2.   Schedule of Events

  • Race 1 – Saturday 6th May 2023
  • Race 2 – Saturday 13th May 2023
  • Race 3 – Saturday 20th May 2023
  • Race 4 – Saturday 27th May 2023

The first Warning Signal each week is scheduled for 1155hrs.

3.   Courses

The course to be sailed will be selected from the RPAYC Courses v1 (1st September 2022). Course sheets are available online: or from RPAYC Reception.

The course to be sailed shall be announced by the Race Committee no later than the Warning Signal.

4.   Handicaps & Ratings

ORC: Boats holding a valid ORC Certificate will be scored under ORC.

PHS: All boats will be allocated a PHS handicap.

5.   Results & Prizes

Presentations will be held in Halyards Bar, RPAYC as soon as possible after racing each week. Everyone is welcome. Temporary berthing is available on the Services Wharf for presentations.

6.   Trophies

Series Trophies will be awarded ASAP after racing on Saturday 27th May 2023.
