RPAYC sailors take on the NSW Hobie Wave Grand Prix

A strong contingent of RPAYC sailors headed to Jervis Bay for the 2026 NSW Hobie Wave Grand Prix Championships, joining 24 entries for two days of fast, close racing at Vincentia Sailing Club.

WaveGP uses eight near-identical Hobie Waves, with competitors rotating between boats for short races close to shore. The format brought together juniors, families, newcomers and experienced catamaran sailors, with 21 round-robin races deciding the top eight before the scores were wiped clean for a four-race Finals Series.

Flying the RPAYC flag were Jackson Bolewski, Kerry Waterhouse, Bridget Bolewski, Henry & Grant Pellew, Oli & Jess Lundh, Sylvie & Ian Carlson, and Austin & Aaron Beashel.
RPAYC sailors featured strongly, with Henry & Grant making the Finals, Bridget & Jackson winning the Family division, Jackson finishing second Junior and Henry third Junior.

After 25 races across the weekend, Matthew & Andrew McKenzie were crowned the 2026 NSW Hobie Wave Grand Prix Champions, just one point ahead of Darren Schmidt.
