Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club members Sienna Brown and Ellis Merrett and Angus Renton are proudly representing the Club and Australia at the 2025 470 Junior World Championships, to be held in Mar Menor, Spain from 5–12 July.
The international event will feature 42 teams from 16 nations, all vying for top honours in one of the pinnacle youth regattas on the sailing calendar.
Sienna and Ellis have shown incredible commitment in the lead-up to the Worlds. Their intensive training schedule includes four on-water sessions per week, each lasting 2–3 hours, followed by another 2 hours of video analysis and debriefs with world-renowned coach Victor Kovalenko and RPAYC’s own Jim Colley. Off the water, their regime continues with gym and cross-training sessions five times a week.
On top of their demanding sailing schedule, both athletes manage full-time studies and spend their weekends working at Newport to help self-fund their campaign—an impressive testament to their dedication and passion for the sport.
After the Worlds, the pair will continue their European tour, heading to Porto, Portugal for the 470 Junior European Championships from 20–27 July 2025.
Also competing at the Worlds will be Angus Renton with RSYC crew Alissandra Braden.
The entire RPAYC community wishes Sienna, Ellis and Angus the very best as they compete on the world stage—go team RPAYC!
