Round 4 – ZHIK Centreboard Winter Series

Sunday 7 September

The final round of the Centreboard Winter Series saw 23 boats registered and joining the fleet on Big Pond for an action-packed day of racing. Competitors enjoyed fantastic conditions with a steady breeze as a diverse mix of Optis, Lasers, a Waszp, Pacer, VX1s, 29ers, Multihulls, and a Scud contested the last races of the series.

Laser Division

Congratulations to Phillip Malcolm, who claimed Boat of the Day honours with a clean sweep, winning all three races. Despite Phillip’s dominant performance, it was Bruce Ferguson on Whisper who secured 1st place in the series, followed by John Black on Indispensable 2 in 2nd, and the ever-consistent Michael Hanavan rounding out the podium in 3rd.

Mixed Medium Handicap

In a highly competitive division, Warwick Rooklyn and crew on VX1 Bolt took 1st place overall. Linda Buchan and Arthur Spithill sailed brilliantly to finish 2nd on the Scud, with Dave Hyde and crew on VX1 Rapture claiming 3rd.

Junior Handicap Division

In the Mixed Junior Handicap, it was Lara and Olivia Dorling who took out 1st place after a great series of performances.

Optimist Division

Yufu Wang on UFO was unstoppable, taking out Boat of the Day and winning the overall series. Lavinia Liu sailed strongly to secure 2nd place on Sailfish, with Courtney Harrison on Opti McOptiface finishing 3rd.

Multihull Division

Nick Elliott on Slider dominated the Multihull series, taking 1st place overall. Close behind were Angus Musgrove and Emma on Thunder Buddy in 2nd, followed by Dave Fisher on The Barbaloots in 3rd.

A huge congratulations to all sailors for a fantastic Winter Series! We can’t wait to see you back on the water for the first round of the Spring Series, kicking off Sunday 21 September.
