By Sydney Marine Brokerage
Pittwater was filled with Bavaria yachts, lederhosen and plenty of Oktoberfest spirit on Saturday 10 October, as Sydney Marine Brokerage brought Bavaria owners and their crews together at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club for a day of sailing, celebrations and good company.
With 14 Bavaria yachts taking part in the race around Lion Island, it was fantastic to see such a diverse fleet out on the water. Despite the light winds, the sun came out and crews enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition, with plenty embracing the Oktoberfest theme in traditional Bavarian attire.
Among the fleet was the impressive Bavaria C57 Balance, recently commissioned and handed over to its new owners by Sydney Marine Brokerage. Seeing this latest-generation yacht sailing alongside Bavaria models that have been enjoyed for many years was a great reminder of the brand’s history and the strong community of owners here in Australia.
Andrew Withers, Dealer/Principal of Sydney Marine Brokerage summed up the spirit of the day:
“One of the best things about Bavaria is the community that comes with owning one of these boats. Seeing so many owners out on Pittwater, from those who’ve had their Bavarias for years to those who’ve only just taken delivery, was fantastic. It’s exactly why we wanted to bring everyone together, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.”
From Racing to Oktoberfest Celebrations
Back at RPAYC, the celebrations were in full swing. The club put on a fantastic German feast, complete with pretzels, pork knuckles and a pig on the spit, while German beer was enjoyed in commemorative Bavaria Oktoberfest steins.
The live German band was a huge hit, getting everyone involved in games, dancing and plenty of laughs. It was a brilliant atmosphere, with owners catching up with familiar faces, meeting new people and sharing stories about their boats.
The day was a great reminder that Bavaria ownership is about more than sailing. It’s also about the friendships, shared experiences and sense of community that bring owners together. A big thank you to RPAYC for hosting us and helping make the event such a success, and to our sponsors and supporters, Club Marine, Douglas Marine, OneSails and Koreman Marine Composites, for joining us and supporting the day. Most importantly, thank you to all the Bavaria owners and crews who made the event so enjoyable.
Prost to a fantastic day on Pittwater, we can’t wait to do it all again!
