Cranbrook School have won the 2021 RPAYC Pittwater Schools Teams Racing Trophy. The regatta saw 7 teams competing on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
After a dominant performance in the Round robin stage, Cranbrook Team #1 defeated Mater Maria Catholic College in the semi final, thus advancing to the final against Cranbrook Team #2. Only three races were required for Cranbrook Team #1 to score 3 points and claim the trophy.
Pymble Ladies College completed the round robin stage in a strong 3rd place, however were later defeated by Mater Maria in the Petit final to finish 4th overall.
Race Officer, Ted Anderson, did a fantastic job completing the full schedule of round robin and finals racing in what were very favourable weather conditions with wind from the SE over both race days. Thank you to Ted and to the on water volunteers – Lisa Ratcliffe, Chris Atwood, Peter Browne, Matt Butterworth & Tom Rees.
The local team from Pittwater High School finished up in 5th place overall, followed by Knox Grammar school in 6th, and a combined development team consisting of sailors from Cranbrook School and Pymble Ladies College in 7th.
Thank you to Chief Umpire Simon Barrington, and the rest of the umpire team (Tom Barrington, Richard Hudson, Eva Atwood & Rob McClelland) for volunteering their time throughout the regatta.
