** How it started**
Jim Colley’s sailing journey began at just 5 years old in a timber boat built by his dad and learnt to sail on Pittwater By age ten, he was racing Manly Juniors at Avalon Sailing Club. Jim went onto represent Australia at the Optimist World Championship before moving up to the 29er class with now team mate Shaun Connor When they were just 16 the pair raced at the Youth World Championships before transitioning to Olympic classes at 19
** How it’s going**
Today, Jim Colley is set to compete in the Men’s Skiff (49er Class) at the Paris 2024 Olympics Jim and Shaun continue to post solid results and have strong potential for the Games that kick off in just over a weeks time Some highlights include 11th at the 2024 World Championships, 10th at the Test Event last year and a winning silver medal at the prestigious French Olympic Week in 2023
Jim says “I love the sport because it provides the perfect avenue for me to learn and grow as a person.”
