SYDNEY-HOBART CLASSIC YACHT REGATTA
Sydney Harbour – December 9-11
A celebration of the yachts and sailors who created the traditions and heritage of Australia’s premier ocean race.
This unique regatta has become a cherished part of the annual build-up to the Rolex Sydney-Hobart race.
Raced over three days it is open to Classic (pre-1976) and IOR-era (1975-1991) yachts that have competed in at least one Hobart race.
There are spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions. The winners of each are recognised with a major historic trophy.
The race on Friday 9 December is an optional invitational event for rusty crews to shake out the cobwebs, and for visiting yachts to familiarise themselves with Sydney Harbour. Visiting yachts are welcome to arrange casual berthing at the CYCA.
The first pointscore race on Saturday 10 is a pursuit start. The second, on Sunday 11, begins with a scratch start off Cannae Point from where the first Sydney-Hobart fleet departed back in 1945.
A prizegiving function will be held at the CYCA after the Sunday race.
All competing yachts must have minimum current Category 7 safety compliance.
