Dear Members,
Just when we thought that things were getting back to some kind of normality, we find ourselves reminded that COVID is still a threat to the way that we live, work and play.
Earlier today NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, announced a temporary reimposition of some COVID-19 restrictions.
The restrictions are effective from 5pm today (6 May) until 12.01am Monday, 10 May 2021.
With a busy weekend planned at the Club some of our events will need to be modified to comply with the reimposed restrictions. All yachting and social events will be proceeding at this stage, although I ask that you please comply with the restrictions detailed below and directions of the Club’s staff and COVID marshals.
Restrictions apply to ‘Greater Sydney’
The restrictions will apply to the ‘Greater Sydney’ region, which includes the Blue Mountains as well as the Wollongong and Central Coast local government areas (LGAs). These are the same areas which were subjected to restrictions following the Northern Beaches outbreak in December 2020.
Mandatory face masks
The temporary restrictions include mandatory mask wearing in certain indoor public venues.
While the public health order has not yet been enacted, I understand that patrons will not be required to wear masks in indoor food or drink areas.
We will keep you updated if restrictions change
No standing while drinking
Clubs are required to ensure patrons remain seated whilst consuming alcohol in indoor areas of the venue.
Singing and dancing prohibited
Dancing is prohibited in indoor areas of the venue. However, dancing is permitted at weddings with the strong recommendation that there be no more than 20 people at any one time on the dancefloor at a wedding.
Furthermore, singing by audiences in indoor areas is prohibited. This means that venues may still host a live performance featuring a vocalist, on the condition that audience members wear masks and are discouraged from singing along.
No changes to capacity
There have been no changes to the capacity limits of hospitality venues. Capacity of the venue is determined in accordance with 1 patron per 2 square metres in both indoor and outdoor areas.
Service NSW check-in
There are no changes to the requirements for members and guests to check in using the Club’s ‘Circle Scan’ sign in system. Our sign in system is Service NSW compliant and supersedes the Service NSW App as it is also compliant with our requirements under the Registered Clubs Act.
Restrictions are temporary
Unless extended, the restrictions will expire at 12.01am on Monday, 10 May 2021.
Please look after yourself and those around you.
Kind regards,
Craig Evans
General Manager
