Centreboard Race Day Report - Club Championship Round 6

The breeze looked light from the Centreboard lawn, but we rigged up and headed out to Big Pond with the intention to set a shortened course to get three races away. Once on water the breeze set at around 8-10kts and our fleet was around 25 boats.

Rocco Springer and Will Holdsworth tested their sailing skills in a 29er for the first time during racing. Was great to see them giving it go – well done guys! If you want to try a different class, why not speak with the Class Rep on your Centreboard Committee? Reach out to Mat Butterworth, Rear Commodore Centreboard – rc.centreboard@rpayc.com.au

It was good to see sailors back in the clubhouse after racing for some well-earned grub, fresh off the BBQ and cooked to perfection by Cam.

Prior to Sunday Centreboard racing, the early morning Race Practice Training session for our Junior Fleet Racers, proved a great success, with around 10 sailors and their families joining in the session. We are hoping to make these sessions a more regular occurrence, and with support from junior fleet sailors, their families, and our broader Centreboard community, we should be able to schedule a program in the near future. Watch this space!
