We welcomed 20 boats in our Centreboard Fleet for Sundays Club Championship Round 5 this past weekend. With so much going on at international and away competition it is great to still see a good turnout for race days here at the club.
The Centreboard course was set in Big Pond making use of the “glamour” conditions on Pittwater, also enjoyed by the fleet of 5.5m’s competing in the Australian Championships.
Our first race got away on time and saw the optis lead out, followed by Lasers and then a joint SKUDS and 29ers start. Freddie C did well in his Opti, joining the other Optis as he continues his transition through Green Fleet to a regular competitor in our Centreboard Sunday racing. Three races completed with no penalties applied – the fleet was well behaved and returned to shore after a great afternoon of racing.
Thank you to our race committee volunteers Scott Paulson, Meredith Paulson, Chris Attwood, Cam Harrison, Justin Steel, Gerard Johnson, Chad Pearce and Dave Hudson.
Be sure to read about the ILCA 7 Masters update from Pattaya in the Alfred’s enews this week along with other Centreboard news and if you have anything you would like to share with your sailing community please send it through to our Centreboard Rear Commodore, Mat Butterworth or to the sailing office at sailtraining@rpayc.com.au
