This Club Champs Round 2 and Optis GP Round 2 welcomed Optimist sailors from Middle Harbour and Woollahra to our regular Centreboard racing fleet. With the breeze looking light from shore we headed straight out to Big Pond and laid the course to the NE to make the most of the building 10 knots of breeze. Optis were the first race away for the round giving our visiting clubs from Woollahra and Middle Harbour a taste of the tricky Pittwater shifts.
Great to see so many Opti sailors out on Pittwater in prep for the upcoming Nationals in January. This round provided the perfect opportunity for local sailors to hone their skills on Pittwater and for some of our guests, who may have been sailing here for the first time, to develop their understanding of the shifty winds that frequent this waterway.
Our sole Waszp had the run of the course and represented the class while the rest of the Waszp fleet was competing up in QLD. Looking forward to hearing how they all went.
Not all of our 29er sailors could race so some had a crack at a Waszp for the firsts time. Charley Johnson was seen foiling first time sailing fast and having fun. A great demonstration of a multi class skill set from Bic to 29er and Waszp.
Last race of the day was closely contested between the SKUDS with Greg with #060 taking out race 3, however Linda with #044 held onto Round 2 Club Champs with wins in race 1 and 2.
