Cooloola is the second entry for the inaugural Lord Howe Ocean Race 2026

Cooloola is the second entry for the inaugural Lord Howe Ocean Race 2026. Alan Hill is the latest skipper to enter the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club’s inaugural Lord Howe Ocean Race, with Cooloola set to line up for the biennial event, starting on the this year’s October long weekend. Alan Hill commented, “The race is an opportunity to sail the boat in the open sea away from the maddening crowds and put the boat through its paces with the excellent crew, many of whom helped sail the boat on the race to Auckland last October. I am also keen to support the RPAYC, who are the organisers of this race.”

“I like the fact that the race is continuous, starting from Pittwater and ending there. The duration enables the rhythm of the watches to settle into a good routine. Our primary motivation is to enjoy the experience. We shall, of course, do our best to perform to the best of our abilities.

Starting from Broken Bay on Pittwater on Friday 2 October, the race category 1 yacht race will take the fleet around Balls Pyramid off Lord Howe Island and return to the finish back at Pittwater, covering 890nm – one long continuous race.
Early Bird entry discount ends at 1700 hours on 1 September 2026.
