Melbourne Cup at RPAYC

What a day! The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club came alive this Melbourne Cup Day with an incredible afternoon of racing, fashion, food, and fun, brought together by the organisation of Verity Powers and Kirsty Hunter, alongside Facundo, our amazing manager of Food & Beverage operations.

Guests arrived in style, greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbles, wine or beer. Sweeps tickets sold fast as the buzz built for the big race, and the Best Dressed judges, Kirsty, Bronwyn, and Lachlan, had their work cut out choosing winners for Best Dressed, which were:
Best Dressed Lady; Jill Pike
Best Dressed Bloke; Ross Hennessy

Best Hat; Virgina McClelland

The Calcutta auctions, expertly run by Lachlan Elder with help from Jo Brodtke and Hayley Britton, had everyone cheering and bidding for their favourite horses. With 10% of proceeds going to Alfred’s Community Sailing (ACS), it was a wonderful way to give back while enjoying the fun of the day.

As the race played, cheers erupted across the room as guests toasted to the winning horse and celebrated their Sweep and Calcutta wins. The party didn’t stop there; music turned up, and celebrations carried on well into the afternoon.

Thank you to our generous sponsor Brown Brothers Winery, and a huge thank you to everyone who attended. Cheers to the winners, and another fantastic day at the Club!
