2025 David Lukins Memorial Match Racing Regatta - WINNER

Daniel Kemp Crowned Champion of the 2025 David Lukins Memorial Match Racing Regatta.

In a thrilling final, Daniel Kemp secured victory in the 2025 David Lukins Memorial Match Racing Regatta with a three-race wins over long-time rival Alastair Read.

The two skippers were standouts throughout the competition, locking in the top two positions after Round Robin 2 and carrying their form into the finals. Their head-to-head showdown showcased world-class match racing skill, tactical precision, and fierce determination, but it was Kemp who ultimately came out on top.

The petit final was another highlight, with Louis Tilly claiming third place over veteran Pat Langley. Despite Langley’s wealth of match racing experience, the rising talent of Tilly, the “new kid on the block” in 2025, proved too strong, marking a changing of the guard.

The weekend wasn’t without its challenges, with racing delayed as the breeze shifted dramatically from west to north. Although two flights were started, they were soon abandoned when the breeze swung to the northeast and steadily built. Once settled, conditions delivered an exciting afternoon of racing that set the stage for a thrilling finals series.

The 2025 regatta once again honored the legacy of David Lukins, bringing together exceptional talent and showcasing the spirit of Youth Development and volunteering on Pittwater. Daughter Kylie and her own daughters proudly awarded the Perpetual Trophy to Kemp and his crew of Lachie Wallace, Belle Holdsworth, Charlie Verity & Hayley Fisher.

Many thanks to the Race Committee led by Nick Elliott, Deborah Holder, Leanne Holdsworth, Estelle Tilly, Andrene Bullough, Sophie Hart, Steve Howe, Adam Hellyer, Angus Musgrove and on-water Umpires led by Simon Barrington, Robyn Tames and Richard Hudson and Rear Commodore Yachting, Peter Farrugia.
