Well done to our Youth Development team who competed at the Hardy Shield Regatta at Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron over the weekend!
This was the first match racing event for Daniel Kemp as skipper. Kemp’s team of D’Arcy Kemp, Joshua Paulson, Hannah McCutcheon and Lachlan Wallace did very well to place 5th (out of 6) after racing against an experienced line up of other teams from Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.
Daniel defeated Emily Keg (RSYS) in a fierce 5th v 6th sail off series to round out the end of the Hardy Shield regatta, which has returned after a long hiatus.
YD sailor Hannah McCutcheon commented “we had a really good second round robin, getting two wins on the board. The event was a “really good learning opportunity for the sailors”.
Daniel added, “Thank you to the RPA for giving us the opportunity to race this weekend, to Coach Rob Brewer for supporting us and to the RSYS for running the event”.
The next Match Racing regatta for the Youth Development squad will be RPAYC’s very own David Lukins Memorial Match Racing Regatta, to be held on the 10th & 1tth September.
