Welcome to the World Airlines Regatta for 2024.
Get ready for 3 actioned packed days of racing on Pittwater, with social events and parties.
The Qantas Sailing Club will be hosting WASC24, to be conducted at the RPAYC at Newport, Sydney.
Together with the 2024 ASCA Sailing Championships, hosted by the Austrian Airlines Sailing Club, will be sailed concurrently.
Racing will be conducted in a fleet of Elliott 7 Yachts with crews of 4-5.
Morning races, lunch back on shore before heading back out for more races in the afternoon.
The racing format will be windward/leeward, approximately 20 minutes per race, up to 8 daily races. (Start Line – Top Mark(S) – bottom Marks (gate) or Finish line.
Schedule of Events:
- Arrival – Sunday 20 October
- Check in at the Metro Mirage Newport.
- Welcome Party: at the Newport Arms Hotel 1800hrs – Snacks, drinks, meal included. Walk across the road from the Metro, main entry via Kalinya St or side entrance on Queens St.
- Day 1 – Monday 21 October
- Registration, Briefing and boat draw will be at 08:00hrs at the RPAYC
- Sail Training/Practice Session 09:00 – 10:00hrs
- First Race: 10:15hrs
Up to 4 Short Course races in Elliott 7s - Lunch at RPAYC Clubhouse
- Second Practice Session
- Then up to 4 Short Course races in Elliott 7s
- Day 2 – Tuesday 22 October
- First Race 10:00hrs
- Up to 4 Short Course races in Elliott 7s
- Lunch at RPAYC Clubhouse
- Then up to 4 Short Course races in Elliott 7s
- Day 3 – Wednesday 23 October
- First Race: 10:00hrs
- Up to 4 Short Course Races in Elliott 7s
- Lunch at RPAYC Clubhouse
- Then up to 4 Short Course races in Elliott 7s
- Captains Meeting following racing at RPAYC
- Evening Presentation and Dinner Function at the Edinburgh Lounge, RPAYC, at 1830hrs
- Departure – Thursday 24 October

The Qantas Sailing Club is an active club of current and retired Qantas Group employees.
The Qantas Sailing Club was formed on the 27th of October 1971 and is still running to the present day.

To the Yacht Club
Getting to the RPAYC is easy, via a short 1.5km drive or walk. If you don’t have a rental car then QSC members may offer you a lift by arrangement.
Limited parking is available on the top floor of the RPAYC carpark at the end of Mitala Street or at the overflow carpark on Crystal Street.
A shorter, more scenic alternate walk via the waterfront is shown below.
