The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club is inviting sailors and clubs to Newport for two opportunities to race on Pittwater: the inaugural Kay Cottee Open Women’s Regatta on 31 October–1 November and the annual Gwen Slade Women’s Skipper Etchells Regatta on Sunday 8 November.

The Kay Cottee Open Women’s Regatta offers two ways to compete. Clubs can enter a team in a chartered RPAYC Elliott 7 for short-course, scratch racing, or bring an ORC-rated yacht for a mix of passage and around-the-cans races. Every entry must have a female helm and a crew that is at least 66% female, including the skipper. There is no restriction on professional sailors, making this an open invitation to experienced crews from across the sailing community.

Elliott 7 teams can expect up to seven races across the weekend, while the ORC divisions have up to three scheduled. Racing takes place on Pittwater and Broken Bay, with presentations at RPAYC after the final race.

One week later, the Gwen Slade Regatta returns for a day of close Etchells racing. A fixture of RPAYC women’s sailing since 1981, it places a woman at the helm of every boat; crews may be all-female or mixed. Up to three races are scheduled, followed by presentations at the Club.
