Competitors are advised that BWPS Race 4 scheduled for Saturday 23rd February has been abandoned.
Bureau of Meteorology have issued a Gale Warning for tomorrow: Storm force wind warning for New South Wales waters between Cape Byron and Smoky Cape
Winds: Variable winds 35 to 45 knots, reaching 50 knots at times this evening. Turning north to northeasterly 30 to 40 knots overnight. Combined sea and swell: Up to 7 metres.
Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Point Danger and Cape Byron
Winds: North to northwesterly up to 35 knots. Combined sea and swell: Up to 7 metres.
Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Smoky Cape and Merimbula
Winds: East to southeasterly reaching 35 to 45 knots tending east to northeasterly. Combined sea and swell: Up to 7 metres.
The combination of wind, sea, and swell conditions along the east coast of Australia would be of high risk to competitors throughout the weekend.
In the interest of crew travelling long distances for tomorrow's race and RPAYC Weather & Sea Conditions Policy the decision to abandon racing was made at 1615hrs Friday 22nd February.
