Dustbuster - Stage 3

The day ran as the brochure describes, 'no nonsense fast windward/leeward racing'.

Stage 3 saw four windward/leeward races conducted in a west southwesterly in 6 to 12 knots of breeze. The Etchells fleet once again showed consistent numbers, with 7 boats turning up on the start line. The notoriously slick Crawford boys were nowhere to be seen, with rumours hinting they went tobogganing together at the ski fields, this left the slate open for the Etchells class with Will Dargaville in Grant V slipping into the overall point score lead with a 1,1,2,1 scorecard . “Not Bad!” commented a talkative Dargaville, “We really enjoyed ourselves this morning”. Hopping back in the saddle after a brief hiatus with home renovations, Jason Antill had a pleasing day on 2107 racing, which included a heat win. This run also has seen Antill progress up the overall point score.

All 8 Elliott 7’s were once again out on the water, with plenty of action packed mark roundings. Pat Langley has not looked back since composing himself after his last place in race one early on in the series. Since then he has never been out of the top 2. Finishing the day with a 1,2,1,1 scorecard, and finally taking the overall lead away from Chris Way on Team Easy Tiger. “It was a great morning. The racing was fast and furious.” “It feels surreal to be back at the dock at 1010am, I think I may tend to the garden now!” commented an elated Langley. The 4th & final stage of the famous Dustbuster Series is scheduled for the 11th August.

A big thankyou to our volunteers for getting up early to conduct these races.
