Sailing participation at the Club for the start of the 2020 – 2021 Season has been outstanding. The number of competitors in both yachting and centreboard events and people enrolling in training courses show some very positive signs for our sport and Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. With twilight sailing about to commence this week things will only get busier at the Club and I would like to thank our volunteers and staff who have hit the ground running after a difficult period negotiating various COVID restrictions.
RPAYC Food & Beverage Operation
COVID has changed all areas of the Club’s operation over the past six months, but none more so than Hospitality. Our Food & Beverage offering at the Club was totally closed for only 3 days during the pandemic. Initially providing take away food and drinks, followed by limited dining to gradually open up the Club’s COVID-compliant operation, has given us time to reflect on our offerings to members; going forward we are making changes to our hours of operation and offerings as we reset alongside the easing of COVID restrictions.
The Club has traditionally not been open for dining on Saturday and Sunday evenings, however, starting this week, the Club will now offer a ‘limited menu’ and bar facilities until 8pm. Depending on demand the menu will be revised and expanded upon. I hope that you support this initiative.
In response to member feedback, Halyards Bar & Bistro will now be open for casual dining every Friday night. We hope that this consistency gets more people dining at the Club. For those of you who enjoy Alfred’s Table we are reinventing this offering and will host these events from time to time upstairs in the Admiral’s Cup Room and Edinburgh Bar.
Halyards Bar and Bistro is also open on Monday and Tuesday for lunch with a Chef on duty offering a reduced menu.
Our Grab & Go and Takeaway service remains popular and we aim to continue providing this service to members.
Details on Food & Beverage trading hours can be found here.
The recent easing of further restrictions is great news, however social distancing, signing in and out requirements, being seated while eating and drinking and ensuring that you get tested and stay at home if you feel unwell remain of utmost importance.
Please look after yourself and those around you.
