Breakout Series

Being confined to land over lockdown has inspired the emergence of a new offshore race from Sydney to Port Stephens, the Pantaenius Breakout Series.

Celebrate the long-awaited return to offshore racing and cruising with a series of day races starting from Sydney Harbour and ending in Port Stephens.

The Breakout Series includes three coastal passage and three inshore passage races to be sailed in conjunction with a Cruise in Company between August 8 and 14, 2020.

Racing will be conducted in three divisions – Performance, Two-Handed and Cruising (non-spinnaker).  There will be a post-race social function at each finishing location, with a gala prize presentation on Friday night. The Organising Authority is Middle Harbour Yacht Club, Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, Port Stephens Yacht Club in conjunction.

Starting in Sydney Harbour on Saturday August 8, arriving at Pittwater to overnight at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. Followed on Sunday by racing further up the road to the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club. On the Monday there is the race to our final destination, Port Stephens, and this is followed by a lay day.

There will be three days of racing from the Wednesday, with a passage race out and around all the islands and back. Anyone who knows the area will know just how tactical this will be. There is then two more days of racing inside, before boats can make their way home.

Race documents and online entry at www.breakoutseries.com.au.
