Annual Shore Power Lead ‘Test & Tag’ – Complimentary Service

Unlike household electrical wiring, the electrical wiring and equipment onboard your vessel resides in a corrosive marine environment that requires regular inspection and maintenance.

The Club is committed to providing a safe facility and a particularly important aspect of the Club’s risk management responsibilities to ensure all Members with vessels on the marina are aware of the Club’s Shore Power Connection Policy.

To view the RPAYC Ship to Shore Connection Policy here. The Club requests all Facility Holders to review the policy and to check their lead and connection is compliant.

Annual Shore Power Lead ‘Test & Tag’ – Complimentary Service

The Club requires facility holder’s shore power leads to be annually ‘tested & tagged’.  To make this process as easy for Members the Club offers facility holders a complimentary “test & tag” for the lead that connects your vessel to shore power (one lead per vessel).

If you would like a complimentary ‘test & tag’ undertaken, leave your coiled and tied lead with your name and boat name at Reception.  In most cases the lead will be inspected and ‘test & tagged’ within one to two business days, and assuming the lead passes, it will be ready for collection from Reception.  In the event the lead does not pass staff will be in contact to advise the reason, and in order to reconnect the vessel to shore power Members will be required to rectify or replace the lead.  If Members have already had their lead tested by an electrician or wish for an electrician to undertake the ‘test and tag’ please ensure a certification ‘tag’ is affixed to the lead if connected to the shore power.

Club staff will undertake a routine checks across the marina to ensure the ‘test & tag’ has been undertaken within 12 months and will ensure the ‘minimum safety requirements’ as outlined in the policy are met.  In the event the Club identifies the lead ‘test’ has lapsed beyond 12 months or where the lead doesn’t meet the minimum safety standards’, the shore power lead will be disconnected and the Member will be contacted.
