The Start Skippering course focuses on the decision making process for a person in charge of a sailing boat. Not only does it further develop the motor skills of sailing, but exercises the thought process behind making decisions as the person in charge of the boat. It is the third component of the Australian Sailing Keelboat training course. You'll see the effect of certain decisions on a boat's performance and you'll gain a further understanding of how to work with your crew to manipulate the boat to get it to do what you want it to do. Lifejackets are provided, all of our instructors are fully qualified, and Pittwater is one of the best locations to learn on the East Coast. Students will be expected to have ticked off the key components in the "Start Crewing" and "Start Helming" courses or have equivalent knowledge and experience.
