Sesquicentenary Celebrating 150 Years at the Alfred's

2016 marks the start of the 150th Sailing Season for The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, and thus begins a year of events to celebrate this momentous occasion.
On October 15, 2017 The RPAYC will have officially been in existence for 150 years and will celebrate its Sesquicentenary. This will be a most important milestone in the Club’s history. Few organisations endure for such a period and we will celebrate in a fitting manner.  One hundred and fifty years ago we were in the time of the Burke and Wills Expedition and NSW was a colony.

The Club will host a series of events beginning with the opening of the 150th Sailing Season on September 3 2016 and culminating with a Garden Party for all Members on October 15, 2017 – exactly 150 years since the Club’s inception. Celebrations during the year will incorporate a series of long-standing and new yachting races and regattas, cruising events, and a range of new social events to celebrate the rich history of this Club.

There will be displays of memorabilia and historical information will be presented throughout the Club. The Archive Committee will develop a History Walk around the grounds, as well as a History Wall inside the Club, outlining the key major events of the past 150 years.

There will be branded merchandise for sale, as well as Sesquicentenary Wine, and all details are outlined further in this brochure. We invite you to participate in as many events as possible over the coming year and help demonstrate the wonderful camaraderie upon which
this great club was built.

The following events have been scheduled to celebrate the rich history of the Club and its achievements. More details on each event will be communicated prior to the event. Many of the regular Sailing Races and Cruising Events for the year will be incorporated under the Sesquicentenary banner and details of all Racing and Cruising events can be found in the sailing handbook.
