Volunteer Roster

Almost every weekend during the sailing season the centreboard division requires volunteers to manage the club race activities. Without volunteers racing does not run.

We have a number of tasks to suit all skills and time commitments, from acting as Race Officer to managing activities on the launch ramp....There is something for everyone.

Some tasks do have specific requirements, ie you need to hold a valid NSW Boat Licence AND be an RPAYC member to be able to drive a club RIB. There is plenty of training available throughout the year to help volunteers improve their skills, Australian Sailing and the RPAYC offer a number of courses that volunteering members of the RPAYC can claim reimbursement for. Such courses include:

  • First Aid.
  • Race Officer training.
  • VHF Radio Licenses.
  • Vessel familiarisation training and certification in use of said vessels.

See the Clubs website or contact the Sailing Office for further details.A new Centreboard Volunteer system has been implemented, Chris Attwood has kindly offered to be the volunteer coordinator this season. Volunteers are critical to the smooth running of all Centreboard events at The RPAYC. The volunteer management system will help to facilitate the smooth management of volunteers. It is a fantastic and efficient way to ensure the Centreboard Sailors have sufficiently resourced race and safety teams. The committee asks those who are available and interested in volunteering for the volunteering for Centreboard Race and Safety management to sign up to the Dutyman system following this LINK. Once signed up you will receive an email with your login details, this will give you access to the roster and provide you with an opportunity to swap and request different duties on any given Centreboard event. The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and for volunteering for The RPAYC. Numerous roles are required, and if you are a club member free training is provided for a number of club run courses.

If you would like to know more about the various roles you can assist with on-water and off-water aspects for Sunday racing please contact the Sailing Office on 02 9998 3700 or the Race Officer of the day. Volunteers shorebased and on water are always welcomed.
